WHAT WE BELIEVE

We accept the Holy Scriptures as the word of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice for the purpose of maintaining general unity. We adopt the following as a basic statement of fundamental truths:

We believe the Bible, consisting of the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament and twenty-seven books of the New Testament, is the verbally inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, inerrant in the original writings, and it is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. (II Timothy 3:15-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; Hebrews 4:12)

We believe in one Triune God, creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – co-eternal in being, co-eternal in nature, co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections. (Deuteronomy 6:4; John 10:30; II Corinthians 13:14)

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He infallibly foreknows all that shall come to pass, that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Luke 10:21-22; Matthew 23:9; John 3:16, 6:27; Romans 1:7; I Timothy 1:1-2, 2:5-6; I Peter 1:3; Revelation 1:6)

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate. (Isaiah 53:5-6; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1,14; Acts 1:9-11; I Corinthians 15:2-8; II Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; I John 2:1-2)

We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord, Jesus Christ; and during this age, to convict men, regenerate the spiritually dead sinner, adopt, indwell, guide, instruct, sanctify, empower the believer for godly living and service, and seal them to the day of redemption. (John 3:5; 14:16-17; 16:8-14; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:11-15, II Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1: 13-14)

We believe man was created in the image and likeness of God, but through Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; man is totally depraved and of himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Genesis 1: 26-27; Romans 3:23; 5:12; Ephesians 2: 3, 12)

We believe salvation is the gift of God brought to man solely by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. (John 1:12-13; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19)

We believe in two ordinances:
a. Baptism in Water – The ordinance of baptism as a testimony of faith in Christ should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures by all who have repented and in their hearts have truly believed in Christ as Savior and Lord. In so doing, they declare to the world that they have died with Jesus and that they have also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4)

b. The Lord’s Supper – The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience instituted by Christ whereby gathered believers through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of Jesus and anticipate His second coming. (Luke 22:19-20; II Peter 1:4; I Corinthians 11:23-26)

We believe the universal Church is the body and bride of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her Great Commission. Each believer born of the Spirit is an integral part of Christ’s Church, and their names are written in heaven. (Luke 10:20; Ephesians 1:22; 2:19-22; 5:25-27; Hebrews 12:23)  The establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. (Acts 14:27; 18:22; Titus 1:5)

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked. (Matthew 16:27; Acts 1:11; Philippians 3:20; I Thessalonians 4:15; II Timothy 4:1; I Corinthians 4:5; I Corinthians 15; II Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:4-6, 11-15)
